Mr. John Shannon

Welcome to the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center (ENCRSC) webpage.  We are in our sixth year of operations are very pleased to continue to have our downstairs classrooms full and programs moving along.  Firefighter Technology is growing in it’s second year and other new programs continue to thrive.

The ENCRSC is a great place to come to and to learn from a qualified team of professionals who want to share their many years of experience and knowledge with the next generation of welders, chefs, computer professionals and health providers.  Currently, the team has a total of over 200 years of experience and industry information to rely upon.  We have an amazing location, terrific instructors and support personnel and support from the local and regional partners and businesses.  The concept and creation of our facility has been in the works for nearly 20 years and we are so pleased to be able to make it available to high school students of Onslow County, Duplin County, Jones County and Lejeune High School.

Our instructors are anxious to meet the students and parents who plan to be a part of the training going here at the ENCRSC.  Be sure to check out the Program area of this website to see what each program offers and to read the biography for your child’s instructor.

Our building has been designed to bring the most up-to-date training spaces and equipment to the students who choose to attend here.  By bringing resources together in one facility, we can offer advanced training opportunities for these students that they traditionally have not been able to get at a regular high school.  Many times, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are offered at one or a few schools due to the high equipment cost or the space needed to provide the instruction.  The ENCRSC makes these separated offerings available for as many as 10 high schools when we combine our efforts with our educational and industry partners.

Providing well-trained individuals for the regional workforce needs is the focus of our programs.  Industry recognized credentials and certifications are a key to achieving this goal.  Business partnerships and student internships is a large part of the successes of all that we are doing at the Center.  By connecting our instruction with the training needs of the regional workforce, we will fill the pipeline of economic development with highly qualified individuals well prepared for work.

Additionally, strong partnerships between the secondary schools and their respective post-secondary partners will continue to strengthen the workforce training in the region.

With the combination of the students’ motivation to be here to learn and the continued support of the parents and families, we will help all students find their way to future successes as they grow with the guidance of the amazing instructors here!  Now, add in secondary schools, post-secondary partners, business and industry support and guidance will provide overall workforce and economic growth across the region.

Welcome!

New offerings will be brought on board over time as the regional needs change and new partners join the journey.

Again, WELCOME!  Visit our site often to see what amazing things we have going on and are planning for the future.
