Mr. John Shannon
Welcome to the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center (ENCRSC) webpage. We are preparing for our third year of operations, beginning in fall 2021 and so far, things are going great. We are calling this our "Third 1st Year" since our inital opening in fall 2019 and facing the challenges of the past year and a half that have upset everyone's day-to-day operations.
Beyond all of the challenges we have faced, we have an amazing location, terrific instructors and support personnel and support from the local and regional partners and businesses. Our facility has been in the works for over a decade and we are so pleased to be able to make it available to high school students of Onslow County, Duplin County, Jones County and Lejeune High School.
Our instructors are anxious to meet the students and parents who plan to be a part of the training going here at the ENCRSC. Be sure to check out their introductory videos on their teacher pages to know who you will be interacting with.
Our building has been designed to bring the most up-to-date training spaces and equipment to the students who choose to attend here. By bringing resources together in one facility, we are able to offer advanced training opportunities for these students that they traditionally have not been able to get. Many times, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are offered at one or a few schools due to the high equipment cost or the space needed to provide the instruction. The ENCRSC makes these separated offerings available for as many as 10 high schools when we combine our efforts with our educational and industry partners.
2020-2021 was a tremendous challenge in our traditional schools as well as here at the ENCRSC. Our instructors successfully navigated the difficult journey and are more prepared than ever to provide high-quality face-to-face instruction and hands-on opportunities to all of the students visiting us in 2021-2022.
Providing well-trained individuals for the regional workforce needs is the focus of our programs. Industry recognized credentials and certifications are a key to achieving this goal. Business partnerships and student internships will be a large part of the successes of all that we are doing at the Center. By connecting our instruction with the training needs of the regional workforce, we will fill the pipeline of economic development with highly qualified individuals well prepared for work.
Additionally, strong partnerships between the secondary schools and their respective post-secondary partners will continue to strengthen the workforce training in the region.
The combination of secondary schools, post-secondary partners, business and industry support and guidance will provide overall workforce and economic growth across the region.
Welcome!
New offerings will be brought on board over time as the regional needs change and new partners join the journey.
Again, WELCOME! Visit our site often to see what amazing things we have going on and are planning for the future.
