Firefighter Technology
Firefighter technology refers to the tools and techniques used by firefighters to perform their duties safely and effectively. This includes personal protective equipment, specialized tools, and advanced communication and incident command systems. Firefighter technology courses provide training on the use of these tools and relevant principles.
Through participation in the Firefighting courses provided at ENCRSC, students have this opportunity actively doing to learn while learning to do.
Why Firefighter Technology
In the Firefighter Technology program, students will have the opportunity to earn 8 of the 9 credentials required to become a North Carolina State Certified Firefighter.
Participation in a firefighting course while still in high school can provide students with an introduction to the field of firefighting and emergency services. It can also help students develop important skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and communication. Additionally, it can provide students with the opportunity to explore their interests and potentially pursue a career in firefighting or a related field.
Firefighter Technology I
This course is part of North Carolina Firefighter certification requirements. Classes include Introduction to the Fire Service, Communications, Incident Command, Firefighter Health &Safety, Firefighter Rehabilitation, Personal Protective Equipment, Fire Behavior, Building Construction, Portable Fire Extinguishers, Tools and Equipment, Forcible Entry, Salvage and Overhaul, and Fire Origin and Cause.
Firefighter Technology II
This course is part of North Carolina Firefighter certification requirements. Classes include Ladders, Ventilation, Ropes and Knots, Search and Rescue, Water Supplies, Fire Hose Appliances and Nozzles, Supply Line and Attack Line Evolutions and Emergency Medical Care.
