Meet: Terry Braddom - HVAC Instructor
Terry Braddom
My name is Terry Braddom. I am the HVACR instructor at the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center. In high school in Michigan, I attended a school like this one where I got my start in the HVACR field. After high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 1973 to 1982. I attended Coastal Carolina Community College for HVACR and graduated in 1985. Working mostly as a service technician until June of 2022. I am a Carrier master technician. I have also been to the Trane plant in Tyler Texas for advanced service technician training. I have been NATE certified in air conditioning and heat pumps. I am a proctor for NATE and can give my students NATE certification exams and the EPA 608 exam. The EPA 608 exam is for handling of refrigerants and a requirement for working in the HVACR trade. I have over 38 years of experience in this field. I hope to be able to pass some of my knowledge on to my students. They will have a lot to learn. I will be assigning homework most weekdays. Most of the time, it will be a video to watch and list things that they learned in the video. The video will have something to do with what we will be doing in class the next day. The reason is to free up time in class so we can spend more time in the shop. We will have quite a few different subjects to cover. There is electricity, the refrigeration cycle, heating, controls for HVACR, brazing, soldering and more. There are good opportunities for working in this field. Employers I know are looking for employees in this field. There is good money to be made doing HVACR work. If you have any questions about this course, please feel free to contact me. The best way would be by email. My email is terry.braddom@onslow.k12.nc.us.
