Career opportunities:
The welding trade is in high demand. A qualified welder can start at an above average salary with income opportunity based on experience. The sky is the limit with the possibilities. As you gain more certifications, qualifications and years of experience, from Certification to Doctorial level, the greater the pay.
Welding Technology I - HONORS
Welding I introduces students to the basic industrial welding practices using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and learning to weld in all positions. Topics include welding shop safety, hand and power tools, and thermal cutting processes. **This course receives Honors Credit.
Welding Technology II - HONORS
Advanced metal welding using SMAW, to include various weld joint configurations as well as weld testing and inspection. Students prepare to achieve the American Welding Society (AWS) welder qualification in the horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Students also experience destructive testing of weldments utilizing the guided bend test method. **This course receives Honors Credit.
Welding Technology III - HONORS
Designed to develop advanced welding techniques and cutting practices used in today's manufacturing and construction industries. Students learn basic metallurgy, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). Students also prepare to achieve the American Welding Society (AWS) welder qualification in the horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Students experience destructive testing of weldments utilizing the guided bend test method. **This course receives Honors Credit.
